For lions

€0 raised so far

No donations yet — be the first · as of 8:33 PM

Donations go to “Gemeinsam Löwen schützen” (Protecting lions together), a project by Pro Wildlife e.V. in Botswana, through betterplace.org.

According to Pro Wildlife, the money pays for lion rangers with a GPS early-warning system, predator-proof fences for the villagers’ livestock and education work, so that people and lions can live side by side at the edge of the Okavango Delta.

The betterplace form suggests €50 — just over a euro for every kilometer. Any amount helps, and the tip to betterplace is optional. Donations are tax-deductible.

Why we run

A lioness lying behind two lion cubs, all three looking straight into the camera.

I started running for a reason bigger than myself.

After years behind the camera, photographing wildlife around the world, I’ve seen how quickly the animals and places I love are disappearing — so I’m running the Berlin Marathon with my friend and business partner Jan to raise money for lions and help protect them while we still can.

Every kilometer is for the wildlife we refuse to lose, and every donation helps give it a fighting chance.

What comes next

But the marathon is only the beginning.

My sister and I have spent years traveling the world together, and somewhere along the way we started asking ourselves the same question: what can we do before the animals we love become something future generations only know from photographs?

That question became Before They Pass Away — a streetwear label built around threatened wildlife, combining my photography with limited pieces designed to tell their stories. We intend to give a share of every piece we sell to conservation.
